Priorities Priorities

Do you ever feel like you have your priorities in the wrong place?  I have been having that feeling for the last couple of weeks.  I will be going back to college in nine days!  College after being out of school for fourteen years.  I am definitely nervous to go back to college.  I remember the first time I went.  I only was able to go for two years before I stopped going. When I was in college, I was taking a full time load of classes and working two jobs and cheering.  Looking back, I don't know how I was able to do it for as long as I did!
So, with me being 33 years old and going back to school, I have so much I my mind.  But oddly enough, I have one thing on my mind the most....what am I going to wear and what kind of bag am I going to carry.  Yes, like I said, I have my priorities in the wrong place.  I am worried that I will look too old.  I don't want to dress to old, but I don't want to dress like I am trying to look young.
I finally decided on a few bags that I wanted but I could not decide for sure which one I was going to buy.  So, I bought them both!  Why not?  Here are pictures of what I purchased.  What do you think?

looks small, but it really is a great size

My Deathly Hallows excursion

I was really wanting to do this yesterday but I practically slept the whole day away.  After being woke up Thursday morning a little after 4am by my poor dog throwing up.  I could not get back to sleep. Which normally this would not be that big of a deal, but as many of you know, Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 2 came out at midnight.  My friend Brooke and I have been waiting for this day for months and months.  We even made our own shirts which I posted here.  We went to the 9pm showing of Part 1.  Which we had already seen.  And the idea of going to this was both good and bad.  The bad was I didn't really get to see many people dressed up in their Harry Potter costumes like I normally do.  We got to the theater at 8pm and there were not lines yet, so we were able to go right in and sit down.  The good, is that everyone in the theater we were sent to also were staying for the 3D version of Part 2.  So, if we did not go to the first movie, we would have had awful seats!  I'm not really going to tell any of you about the movie.  I just really want to show the pictures I have of Brooke and I in our shirts and in the theater.

I had to get pictures of me and Hermione since it is the same picture on my shirt

Hunger Games

I am currently part of two book clubs.  Which sounds like a lot of reading, but really in both book clubs we only read one book a month.  For one of my book clubs, we decided to read the first book of the Hunger Games trilogy.  I started the book on Monday afternoon and finished it Monday evening.  I then purchased the second book, Catching Fire, on Tuesday and started to only begin to read it on Tuesday.  By Wednesday evening, I had finished the second book and the third book, Mockingjay.  So, let me give you some information about them...well, as much as I can without spoiling it for you.  So, the first one is set sometime in the future.  There was no longer a United States.  North America was sectioned off into a Capitol and 12 districts.  It once had 13 districts, but the districts tried to take down the capitol and when they did the 13th district was destroyed.  Since then, every year, each district has to draw a boys name and a female name withing the ages of 12-18 to go into a game to kill each other.  The last person living wins.  There is a lot of gut wrenching and sadness and the beginning of a love story.
The second book, Catching Fire, has less action...but still the same type.  But, there is the start of a love triangle.  This book was my favorite.  In the first book the main character was a 16 year old girl that was so strong in everything she did.  She controlled every emotion she had.  In this book, she starts to let her guard down and show emotion and love in her own way.
The third book, Mockingjay, is probably one of the saddest books I have read.  This book has gotten to me.  I have thought about it for days and can't seem to think about anything else.  The characters are at war.  They are trying to rally all the districts to take down the capitol.  There is a lot of sorrow and heart ache in this book. Every time it seemed like the main character was going to catch a break....something else went wrong.  Plus, it only has a slight happy ending.  I'll admit...I cried like a baby reading this final book.  Actually, I sobbed.  I had to stop reading to compose myself, sobbed.  Even now writing this, I get teary eyed just thinking about the end of the book.  The author seems to try to tie up all the loose ends within the last few pages of the book.  But, the best part of the book is the very last page and the epilogue.

On Friday, On Friday, I made shirts on Friday!

My friend and I are extreme Harry Potter fans!   Yes, my name is Misty and I love Harry Potter.  So, that being said....the final movie is coming out and for those of you who are HP fans you understand the excitement and the sadness.  So, we decided we had to make our own HP shirts for this final movie.  After researching the different photo transfer paper to get, we set out to find shirts.  We both wanted to have black shirts, so I purchased photo transfer paper for dark fabrics.  Here is a link if you are interested in purchasing it too.  My plan was to reconstruct a plan black shirt into something not so plan.  Here is what I wanted my shirt to look like before we transfered our HP pictures onto them.
I love the braided effect and I was only planning on having a small quote of the front and a picture on the back.  So, I figured there would be enough room for them.  Well, I'm not going to get into that shirt right now other than the fact that it was a big fail.  I only did the front so far and I was not liking it at all.  It puckered in weird spots.  I will definitely post the shirt at a different time.  And I plan on going back to try to fix it.  But for now, I still needed a shirt for my HP shirt.  So, I decided to use a regular v-neck shirt and put the transfer photos on it first then add fabric flowers on the collar.
I didn't take any before pictures, but it was just a plain black v-neck shirt.  The first step was to find a quote that we liked.  I went online and search for Deathly Hallows quotes and quickly found what I wanted.  Then, I searched for Deathly Hallows images.  Once I knew what I wanted, I simply followed the instructions and printed the images onto the transfer paper and let it dry.  Once dried, I cut the image and quote out the way I wanted it.  Then, I peeled off the backing and stuck it onto the shirt where I wanted it and put the rice paper (that comes with the transfer paper) over the transfer and ironed on the hottest heat for 2 minutes.  And viola it was done.
