Not soon soon but in almost three months. In the eight months that I have been a mom, I have come to realize that it takes me forever to do the simplest of projects that I used to be able to knock out in an afternoon. It's because of this, that I started to plan Baby Beep's birthday party. This first birthday is not so much for the child (because what are they going to remember), but I feel like it's more of a celebration for the parents (super excited we all made it out of this year alive). <br />
The first order of business was to pick a theme. I hate picking themes for anything....but at the end of 2016 I received an e-mail ad for Chatbooks (check them out they make baby photo albums or any photo album a breeze) and they had this really pretty cover and theme to showcase your year of 2016. It was by Rifle Paper co. For those of you who have never seen Rifle Paper or don't know what it is, don't be ashamed because neither did I at the time, it is mostly beautiful vintage hand drawings. I fell in love with everything Rifle Paper after that ad. The vintage graphic flowers are to die for. The hard part for me was picking a pattern that I wanted to follow and stick to but I figured it out today (I may leave this as a surprise). Here are a couple of my favorite patterns...head over to <a href="https://riflepaperco.com/">Rifle Paper co</a> to see what other wonderful items they have (they even sell fabric)<br />

Next up, brainstorming décor ideas. I had actually started this process before I decided on the Rifle Paper pattern. A couple of weeks back I went to the Goodwill and purchase a bunch of larger picture frames and I wanted to utilize them in the décor...I just wasn't sure what I wanted to do with them. So, I did what any party planning momma does, I started googling and pinteresting. There was just so much pretty and so little time. I'll try to keep you all posted on the progress as I goMistyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12258587578927847013noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7715985014415375123.post-63718209554359012912017-02-08T21:33:00.003-08:002017-02-08T21:42:00.289-08:00Probably cricketsville it's been so long since I have been on here. Of course so much has happened. I finished up school and graduated top of my class as a radiographer (glorified photographer). I got a job at my number one pick of hospitals in my area. The biggest most recent event was that I had a baby last June! This is monumentous because I never really wanted to have a baby until recently.
My husband has always said he wanted kids but I just couldn't get on board. Then the thought started to slowly drill its way into my brain. What made my switch flip was talking to my father in law. He had many things left to him when his parents passed away. I don't know why this was the one thing that made me start to question whether or not to have children. To get morbid...the thought of dying and not having anyone to leave our belongings to, let alone no one to remember us, really hit home.
It was for selfish reasons but aren't most reasons selfish? So we called up our family in February of 2014 to let them know we were going to try to have a baby. By March I found out that I was pregnant.
We were ecstatic. We were in shock. We were scared. How does that happen so fast. I had been able to not get pregnant for 36 years and bam pregnant after trying for a month. Luckily we quickly lost the jitters and started planning for our little bundle. We started to buy big items. We had our crib, changing table, and pack-n-play by the time I was only 10 weeks out. My dad came to visit and we painted the baby's room.
Then I went to my first ultrasound when I was 12 weeks along and my world came crashing down on me. No heart beat. I have never experienced anything like it. I went from such a high and utter excitement to rock bottom within seconds. My husband was the best. He was my rock.
After that, life happened. I started to work at the hospital along with my previous retail job. What should have been two part time jobs turned into working 40 hours at both jobs per week. When I finally got a guaranteed full time job at the hospital and quick my other job, my husband got a promotion and was sent out for training. He was gone so much for the first three months of his new position.
It was once again a major shock to the system to find out in September 2016 that I was pregnant again. I told the two girls I worked with and my boss (since I work with radiation). Other than that, we didn't tell a sole until I was 13 weeks pregnant. Even then I didn't want to let anyone know. One of the hardest things the first time was telling people that I was no longer pregnant. I didn't want to have to go through that again if I miscarried. We didn't buy anything for the baby until I was 6 month pregnant (we still had everything from the first pregnancy). I didn't want to get my hopes up. Even after every movement, hiccup or kick.
I had a miserable pregnancy. I was so sick that I lost 20 pounds in my first 8 weeks and I never did gain all of it back before I had my little girl. She arrived on June 7 2016 (our anniversary). She was so tiny 5 pounds 13 oz and 18 inches long. But she was healthy and beautiful and a crying little thing.
The last 8 months we have had our ups and downs, lack of sleep, breast feeding issues, food issues, and pooping issues. But I would not give them up for anything. Her and I, we are two peas in a pod. I love that there are days that the only thing that she wants is to be held in my arms. And kissed by my lips.
I've been asked if we are going to have another baby and I honestly don't know. I feel myself saying no because I don't want to love anyone else as much as I love her.

<br />
So this last Saturday was my birthday! (I like candy if you want to send my anything, lol). I heard a study a little while ago that said your 33rd year is supposed to be the best, sadly, I just turned 34. So, what does that mean? Well, I agree my 33rd year was a great year but I am fully planning on making this year a great one too! So, to start off my 34th year, my husband, my friend Brooke and her husband took me out for dinner and then we went bowling. I have to say it has been such a long time since I have gone bowling. It was a great night. I won't lie I do feel like I am getting so old, but Brooke had a great idea. In order to stay feeling young, we need to do something we did when we were younger, like bowling. Next year, drunk hide-n-seek! Yeah, I've actually done that.<br />

I promised a tutorial on how I made my Hunger Games messenger Bag and I am<u> finally</u> following through.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QWliDkEklJM/T3pzn4jwTuI/AAAAAAAAAnA/Ma_lGwy4E2s/s1600/024+-+Copy.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="277" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QWliDkEklJM/T3pzn4jwTuI/AAAAAAAAAnA/Ma_lGwy4E2s/s320/024+-+Copy.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<br />
So, here is the sizing I cut my fabric up in. The fabric by the way was a thick canvas with a thick plastic backing. I used the plastic backing as the lining of the bag. <br />
<div><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xeT-jARxb0s/T3ppLZo5oZI/AAAAAAAAAmA/CU6QEthvKLs/s1600/bag+pieces.png" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="356" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xeT-jARxb0s/T3ppLZo5oZI/AAAAAAAAAmA/CU6QEthvKLs/s640/bag+pieces.png" width="640" /></a></div><div><br />
</div><div><br />
</div><div><br />
</div><div><br />
</div><div><br />
</div><div><br />
</div><div><br />
</div><div><br />
</div><div><br />
</div><div><br />
</div><div><br />
</div><div><br />
</div><div><br />
</div><div><br />
</div><div><br />
</div><div><br />
</div><div><br />
</div><div><br />
</div><div><br />
</div><div><br />
</div><div>You can add a 1/4" seam around it, I didn't. So, my actual bag came out a little smaller than the measurements here. I pinned the front piece and the side pieces canvas side's together on my first stitching and sewed them together. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KboVppiDuys/T3pq5C-oIvI/AAAAAAAAAmI/CIcu9OKAhGY/s1600/005.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KboVppiDuys/T3pq5C-oIvI/AAAAAAAAAmI/CIcu9OKAhGY/s320/005.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div><br />
</div><div>I then turned this piece right side out and sewed the bottom of the back piece on. </div><div><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bbeABTBHFeU/T3psA9DLFKI/AAAAAAAAAmQ/TbIe4Y9CnWk/s1600/015.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bbeABTBHFeU/T3psA9DLFKI/AAAAAAAAAmQ/TbIe4Y9CnWk/s320/015.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div><br />
</div><div>Now, this is going to sound confusing, but I turned the bag right side out again and sewed the two sides of the back piece onto the bag. </div><div>After this, I cleaned up the flaps edges and folded them under and sewed. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-kPJDpCAd97A/T3ps2QB3CVI/AAAAAAAAAmY/I-HhKOJyKlo/s1600/021.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-kPJDpCAd97A/T3ps2QB3CVI/AAAAAAAAAmY/I-HhKOJyKlo/s320/021.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-oyRQSJ5gf14/T3ptBSWD-HI/AAAAAAAAAmg/43l-RjFcsCM/s1600/022.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-oyRQSJ5gf14/T3ptBSWD-HI/AAAAAAAAAmg/43l-RjFcsCM/s320/022.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div><br />
</div><div><br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-OTVwIzuS43c/T3pyUXq8qOI/AAAAAAAAAm4/LabagtHJu9Y/s640/blogger-image--683946781.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-OTVwIzuS43c/T3pyUXq8qOI/AAAAAAAAAm4/LabagtHJu9Y/s640/blogger-image--683946781.jpg" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">bag finished without straps</td></tr>
</tbody></table><br />
<br />
For the strap I folded it in half and ironed in on the canvas side....and yes it was ok to iron, even with the other side being plastic. Then I folded it again (quartered it) so that the sides were touching in the middle and ironed it again. Keeping the sides touching in the middle I folding the whole thing in half and sewed along the edge. </div><div><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0bvv09YKySU/T3pxPtpvv6I/AAAAAAAAAmo/8NzyyaguHK4/s1600/messenger+bag+strap.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="358" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0bvv09YKySU/T3pxPtpvv6I/AAAAAAAAAmo/8NzyyaguHK4/s640/messenger+bag+strap.png" width="640" /></a></div><div><br />
</div><div>I used gromets to attach the strap to the bag. Then using the fabric transfer paper I transfered my image (google image search) onto the front of the flap. </div><div>And it was complete! Keep in mind this can be done for anything. It can be left plain for everyday or different themes for children. <br />
<br />

My friend Brooke and I have been literally stalking everything Hunger Games for the last year in anticipation to the opening night. And we finally made it! Like the true Barney's that we are, we went all out! <br />

<div style="text-align: center;">So, today in my anatomy class we were learning about the respiratory system. We were testing how much pressure of air we can breath out. After doing mine, I realized I was far below what I should have been. So, I asked my teacher why that would be. She asked me if I was a smoker. Nope, never have been. She asked me if I had asthma. Nope, that wasn't it. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">So, here is where it gets good. The next thing that came out of her mouth took me by surprise. Yeah....she said, "oh, you're pregnant!" She didn't ask, she just stated. A good way to respond to that would have been to just shrug it off and tell her no. But no. Not me. I got a little crazy for some reason. I slapped my hand on the counter top and said (in a non indoor voice) "I am NOT pregnant! I'm just obviously fat!" Not my finest moment. I was even about ready to start saying, "did you just call me fat? I think you just called me fat!" </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"> I will admit I have gained some weight since this school year has started. And I have been really bad about working out on a regular basis. So, at that moment of embarrassment, I decided I was gonna have to start working out more. Oh and I haven't decided if I need to burn my shirt because obviously something made her think I was pregnant. </div><a name='more'></a>So, my what I wore Wednesday, has turned into a, should I burn my shirt day. Here is the outfit. What do you think? Pregnant? LOL! <br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dYGqGhsLsf4/Tyx9VSxNNPI/AAAAAAAAAig/Lpp5A-ShITI/s1600/leggings+are+not+pants.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dYGqGhsLsf4/Tyx9VSxNNPI/AAAAAAAAAig/Lpp5A-ShITI/s1600/leggings+are+not+pants.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div style="text-align: center;"> But, I will have to argue. I actually think leggings are the most comfy pants...as long as they are teamed with a shirt that covers your butt and larger part of your thighs. I do not believe tights are pants though. I actually saw a girl wearing a rather short shirt/dress and tights. You could almost see her kooka! So here is the new slogan. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />

And I know this because when I was trying to reload my bobbin, I couldn't remember how to do it. It could also be that I have been in school for the past couple of months and I have a little bit of brain fry. But either way, I do have a new reconstruction for you! Sort of. Unfortunately I don't have much time for a long, pretty, witty post. So, here is my fast and the furious reconstruction. <br />
<br />
About a month ago, I went to the Goodwill and pick up a really cute sweater dress. I loved the color and the scalloped bottom and sleeves. The unfortunate part was the armpit area was extremely huge and baggy. So, I did a little bit of thinking, a little bit of cutting, and a little bit of sewing. <br />

Unlike me at that age, she is a girly girl. A glitter in her veins kind of girl. And, I won't lie, my mom let her start to wear make up at an early age, so she has had lots of practice. <br />
I'm not sure if I explained the gifts my husband and I are giving this year. We are buying some gifts, but we are making at least one gift for everyone. So, for my sister, I bought her a really cute brown shirt that can hang off of the shoulder. The gift that I made for her, if you couldn't tell by the name of the post, was bracelets. I didn't make a tutorial because I actually had to find a tutorial for one of the bracelets. <a href="http://www.fusionbeads.com/beadingfaq/techniques.php?bfid=197" target="_blank">Here</a> is the link for the tutorial I used. And, here is the final bracelets. <br />

What is it? A magazine subscription. The first 2 years, she bought me Southern Living. The last 2 years, she bought me Real Living. I love this as a present and the best thing is, I look forward to getting my monthly present and I always remember that she got it for me. I even call her every time I get a new magazine and thank her. So, for anyone still looking for a small gift for pretty much anyone, I would recommend a magazine subscription. <a href="http://www.magazines.com/?afd_number=3823&s_kwcid=TC%7C22554%7Cmagazine%20subscriptions%7C%7CS%7Ce%7C8741748608&gclid=CPLml96Jka0CFUmR7QodDFlgmQ" target="_blank">Here</a> and <a href="http://www.magazineline.com/magazineline/homepage.htm?gclid=CJCs1vGJka0CFUOQ7QodI2TFoA" target="_blank">here</a> are a couple of websites that sell them relatively cheap.Mistyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12258587578927847013noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7715985014415375123.post-86408985959741990852011-12-18T09:24:00.000-08:002011-12-18T09:24:47.778-08:00Funny OnsiesMy sister had a baby back in November and I still wanted to get the baby a little something. But, with the baby being less than 9 weeks old, what do you get him? A funny onesie! <br />
I was wanting the onesies to be black, so I went to Hobby Lobby and purchase two. Now all I needed was two funny sayings. The problem was I couldn't decide which sayings to use. Here were the saying I liked.<br />
<ol><li>I'm cute. My mom's cute. My dad is just lucky!</li>
<li>Sorry Angelina, I'm taken.</li>
<li>I'd rather be with my aunt.</li>
<li>I drink until I pass out, like my daddy.</li>
<li>Photo with baby $0.25. Saving for my college fund.</li>
<li>I just got here and I'm already awesome!</li>
<li>My aunt feels guilty for living so far away. So, I got this shirt.</li>
</ol>I sent out a few text messages to ask my mom, friend, and husband which two sayings were their favorites. The bad thing was they all chose different ones. My mom liked #1 and #2. My friend liked #4 and #6. My husband liked #3 and #5. So....since that was not helpful at all, I posted on my facebook (but hid the post from my sister, her husband, and my older nephew). I got a lot of #1, #2, #4, and #6. So, which ones did I choose?<br />

I say this because over the last couple of weeks I have done a bunch of crafting, but it has mostly been coping great ideas off of pinterest. But, I am ok with that (for now) because there are some awesome ideas on there. <br />
Two of the great ideas I have found off pinterest were these babies.<br />

There really is not a lot of explanation needed for the gummy worms. Pretty much stick them into a bag and staple the saying on the top to attach it to the bag and to close the bag up.<br />
<br />
For the ornament, I will not lie, each ornament took me a good hour or so to make. So, yes they were time consuming. It was a lot of trial and error to get the size I liked. I recommend cutting the page down in halves three times for the bigger outer layer and four times for the inner layer. You roll each section into "cones" and tape to hold in place. I then made a square out of a page of the book and glued the larger cones to it. I only have pictures of the first one I did (and for some reason I used tape to adhere the cones to the square and it was much much bigger) but, definitely use glue. It is so much cleaner and doesn't weigh as much. I made a whole on the back square piece and threaded the "ribbon" through it and made a knot. Easy peasy.<br />

I think I have wrote about needing an intervention for this addiction before, but it has gotten worse. I have been pinning printables like crazy especially with Christmas right around the corner. I have been trying to track down cute Christmas tags. I have had <a href="http://printable.tipjunkie.com/tags-for-homemade-gifts/" target="_blank">this</a> printable pinned for a while now. Since I have been making one gift per person this year, it would be perfect if it were more Christmas themed.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-g665SSkpc7g/Tuo054riheI/AAAAAAAAAa0/uAz2B7uviQA/s1600/pin.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-g665SSkpc7g/Tuo054riheI/AAAAAAAAAa0/uAz2B7uviQA/s400/pin.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>So, I set out to make my own. I found <a href="http://www.carinagardner.com/2009/02/28/my-new-mini-office-space-free-tag-download/" target="_blank">this</a> blank template for printables. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-0y1zUbZtY_M/Tuo1nMAvYSI/AAAAAAAAAa8/879JhEmTPDE/s1600/plain_tags_freedownload.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-0y1zUbZtY_M/Tuo1nMAvYSI/AAAAAAAAAa8/879JhEmTPDE/s640/plain_tags_freedownload.jpg" width="492" /></a></div>I used the paint program that comes with most computers and added a Merry Christmas and changed up the colors and it was that simple. What do you think?<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-a8V4nBttkjk/Tuo4BPgtCLI/AAAAAAAAAbM/LHtK_9Vdukk/s1600/funny+label.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-a8V4nBttkjk/Tuo4BPgtCLI/AAAAAAAAAbM/LHtK_9Vdukk/s400/funny+label.jpg" width="382" /></a></div><br />
<a name='more'></a>I tried to figure out how to make this downloadable for everyone to be able to use, but apparently I am not smart enough for that. So, if anyone wants to give me a crash course in setting up CSS print page, I will totally set that up!Mistyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12258587578927847013noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7715985014415375123.post-63229122800434303242011-12-11T10:55:00.000-08:002011-12-19T08:21:33.375-08:00Christmas Craftapaloosa 2011My friend Brooke, is one of those people who will come up with the best ideas. Sometimes she comes up with the craziest ideas. And sometimes she comes up with ideas where you just don't know if you want to go along with them. I have learned to just go along with any of her ideas. Because even if something does not sound fun....it some how always ends up being a blast.<br />
On Saturday,I did not doubt the fun to be had. She planned a craftaploosa. She found three great crafts (that she found on pinterest, got to love pinterest). She invited friends and family. And being the organized super mom that she is, set up organized craft zones, pre-practiced the crafts, and simplified the crafts. Once again, I am not going to reinvent the wheel, but I do want to tell you what we did to prepare and some of the things we tried that didn't work out. So, to start off, we did the snowflakes from toilet paper roll ornaments. Here is the inspiration and the <a href="http://michellesjournalcorner.blogspot.com/2009/04/craft-coardboard-stars-from-toilet.html" target="_blank">website</a> we tried to copy. <br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-uZlFS9fdzcc/TuQvrEhFn7I/AAAAAAAAAYc/6Uiha0EJDOg/s1600/snowflake+from+toilet+paper.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-uZlFS9fdzcc/TuQvrEhFn7I/AAAAAAAAAYc/6Uiha0EJDOg/s320/snowflake+from+toilet+paper.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Add caption</td></tr>
</tbody></table> This was a really easy craft. The hardest part about it was painting it. The other day Brooke and I practiced the crafts and we tried to spray paint the snowflake. But, it was kind of a pain in the arse. So, we decided to use acrylic paint. Which actually worked fine. It may have just been us, but it was hard to get enough glitter on without making it look all splotchy. But, after looking at the inspiration picture right now, we obviously didn't use enough glitter. So, here is my finished snowflake. It turned out cute, but definitely needs more glitter.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-AZco8R9zw-M/TuQxUBno3II/AAAAAAAAAYk/Gev_ME7OL2Q/s1600/016.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-AZco8R9zw-M/TuQxUBno3II/AAAAAAAAAYk/Gev_ME7OL2Q/s320/016.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Also, I obviously suck at cutting paper because my 5 pieces were not the same size which made it look like a 4 year old made the ornament. I will still put it on my tree though. As you can see we added a little something to the middle. We did this because after assembling our practice ornament, it was not looking very good in the middle. So we decided to add something to cover up the middle. But, the lesson learned here is, you can never have too much glitter.<br />
The second thing we worked on was the glittery ornaments. Here is the inspiration and the <a href="http://amandasarver.blogspot.com/2010/11/handmade-glitter-ornaments.html" target="_blank">website</a> we copied.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-lM6LBINq4m0/TuTzhs3gFUI/AAAAAAAAAYs/hyt98Z1pRGU/s1600/Pink-Black-Glitter-Ornaments.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-lM6LBINq4m0/TuTzhs3gFUI/AAAAAAAAAYs/hyt98Z1pRGU/s1600/Pink-Black-Glitter-Ornaments.JPG" /></a></div>This was probably the easiest crafts and came out exactly like the inspiration. We tried the small glitter flecks that was used in the inspiration and the bigger flakes of glitter and I will agree that the small flecks of glitter looked better....for the most part. Here is ours.<br />

I would definitely say that Brooke's Craftapaloosa was a success! If anyone wants to do something crafty with friends and family, this would be a perfect idea. Oh and the best part was the food! Brooke made one dish and asked everyone to bring one brunch type of food! Unfortunately, I didn't think about taking pictures of the food, but trust me it was so yummy! <br />
<br />
Has anyone else out there done a craftapaloosa? If so, what type of crafts did you do?Mistyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12258587578927847013noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7715985014415375123.post-16873374227215655472011-12-09T06:36:00.000-08:002011-12-22T14:46:52.380-08:00Personalized CoastersBack on<a href="http://lovesewingandmore.blogspot.com/2011/05/coasters.html" target="_blank"> May 30th</a>, I posted about doing coasters as presents. Well, we decided that since we were going to be making wine glasses and mugs for my husband's parents, we might as well make them some personalized coasters too. There are craftier ways to do this such as <a href="http://www.examiner.com/scrapbooking-and-stamping-in-national/stamping-101-how-do-i-make-tile-coasters" target="_blank">these</a> <a href="http://decorate.tipjunkie.com/how-to-make-tile-coasters-mod-podge/" target="_blank">three</a> <a href="http://happytocreate.com/home-for-the-summer/craft-tutorial-how-to-make-tile-coasters/" target="_blank">sites</a>, but I wanted to do something quick and easy. So, we purchased some transfer paper which is made for pretty much everything, especially tile, for $19.70. If you would like to purchase the same kind check out my <a href="http://lovesewingandmore.blogspot.com/p/my-amazon-store.html" target="_blank">amazon store</a>. We also purchased the follow items.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GHcw0lUJ4qY/TuE1VaXT10I/AAAAAAAAAWc/zq79XyNkf64/s1600/002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GHcw0lUJ4qY/TuE1VaXT10I/AAAAAAAAAWc/zq79XyNkf64/s320/002.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<ul>
<li>24x48 Cork Roll for 9.99</li>
<li>25 Rialto Beige tile for $0.37 with ended up being $9.25</li>
<li>3oz. bottle of Contact Cement for $4.97</li>
<li>11.5oz can of gloss Helsmman urethane for $9.09</li>
<li>We had a can of satin already on hand </li>
</ul>
So, the total for everything for this project is going to be$33.30. We have made 6 coasters for my husband's mother and 6 for my husband's father. We made 4 coasters for my mother and 4 coasters for my sister. Then we made 4 coasters for a friend and we had purchase 1 extra coaster to test out the whole process for ourselves. We of course still have a bunch of cork, contact cement, urethane, and transfer paper left over. The first thing we did was find a font that we liked from this <a href="http://www.1001freefonts.com/" target="_blank">website</a>. Then we sized it to the size we liked on our paint program. From there, we printed them onto the transfer paper using the instructions on the package. Then cut them out. There is one thing we would do different next time. We would cut the letters out and do it the size of the tile itself, that way you can't see the edges of the transfer paper. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Rj4apA8V0J8/TuE1n71fkRI/AAAAAAAAAWs/5iDJJum2pd4/s1600/014.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Rj4apA8V0J8/TuE1n71fkRI/AAAAAAAAAWs/5iDJJum2pd4/s320/014.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Then we got a bowl of water and put it in the water for 60 seconds. It was so fun watching them shrink up.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-7WzPSgMVReU/TuE18gjQ8OI/AAAAAAAAAW8/hhCKd4MKgio/s1600/016.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-7WzPSgMVReU/TuE18gjQ8OI/AAAAAAAAAW8/hhCKd4MKgio/s320/016.JPG" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">please ignore the mess in the background. </td></tr>
</tbody></table>
After that we peeled the white backing off of the paper and placed it on the tile.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wZqA8X724NE/TuE2Hhpw8DI/AAAAAAAAAXE/f2mwUyWuYz4/s1600/017.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wZqA8X724NE/TuE2Hhpw8DI/AAAAAAAAAXE/f2mwUyWuYz4/s320/017.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-akEFjKcHcyw/TuE2d1X-w1I/AAAAAAAAAXU/NqADcFR0LmA/s1600/012.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-akEFjKcHcyw/TuE2d1X-w1I/AAAAAAAAAXU/NqADcFR0LmA/s320/012.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Once the transfer paper dries it will turn white and you will need to spray it with urethane.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-B7CMDDglwRc/TuE2o2V_V3I/AAAAAAAAAXc/7_NL-k6Dx2c/s1600/018.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-B7CMDDglwRc/TuE2o2V_V3I/AAAAAAAAAXc/7_NL-k6Dx2c/s320/018.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
While the urethane was drying we cut the cork and I just want to show you this huge pile of cork!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4VQgnaJITdM/TuE3Hp6PcmI/AAAAAAAAAX0/ixfhRV3bYio/s1600/023.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4VQgnaJITdM/TuE3Hp6PcmI/AAAAAAAAAX0/ixfhRV3bYio/s320/023.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Once the urethane dried, we used the contact cement and glued the cork to the bottom of the tile.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CkFHLMIjf3Y/TuE2y0ae0fI/AAAAAAAAAXk/bYJxVUgsOPc/s1600/019.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CkFHLMIjf3Y/TuE2y0ae0fI/AAAAAAAAAXk/bYJxVUgsOPc/s320/019.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>

I'd like to say we are doing it because we think there is more meaning behind it, but really it's cuz we po'. I figured if we were going to be making gifts, I wanted something they still needed and still looked great. So, for the next couple of days I am going to be sharing the gifts that we made for our family. <br />
So, to start off, my husband's mom was really needing new wine glasses and his dad was wanting beer mugs. What can I say, they like to party. We decided we were going to get them some wine glasses and mugs and etch their last name initial on them. So, after looking around I found wine glasses <i>and</i> beer mugs at The Dollar General for $1 dollar a piece! If you are worried that they would be cheap, let me calm those worries, I accidently tapped one of the wine glasses against our tile countertop and it didn't break. <i>Score! </i>Other than the item you will be etching on (glasses, mugs, ornaments, frames, plates, etc.), you will need the following items. I used Armour Etching cream, a small paint brush, an x-acto knife, and label paper. You do can purchase a kit that has most of these items and stencils in it. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BTSzq76ZyK4/TuEj90lWBgI/AAAAAAAAAVc/HcaX78b0X4k/s1600/005.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BTSzq76ZyK4/TuEj90lWBgI/AAAAAAAAAVc/HcaX78b0X4k/s320/005.JPG" width="320" /></a></div> I couldn't find stencils of letters the size that I wanted, so we found one on <a href="http://www.1001freefonts.com/" target="_blank">this </a>website that has 1001 free fonts. We copied it and opened it up in our paint program. Then we sized it to the size we wanted and printed it out onto the label sheet. After that we painstakingly cut out the lettering using the x-acto knife. You could always just use masking tape and free hand a letter and cut it out also if you do not want to purchase the labels. We just had them on hand, so there was no cost to use them. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-dC6jtksiWYk/TuElwGJHFvI/AAAAAAAAAVk/Qm00LgsUT78/s1600/002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-dC6jtksiWYk/TuElwGJHFvI/AAAAAAAAAVk/Qm00LgsUT78/s320/002.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />
Once we had the letter cut out, we peeled the backing of the label. To get them centered and in the same location on all of them, we took a scrap piece of paper the same length of the letter. We used the thickness of the scrap piece of paper to determine how far down the letter was going to be by lining it up with the top edge of the glass and the top edge of the label. We made sure to smooth down all bubbles that will allow for etching cream to get underneath. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yg4_mtyZ184/TuEnLxkpPKI/AAAAAAAAAVs/vduCZ-dNae8/s1600/010.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yg4_mtyZ184/TuEnLxkpPKI/AAAAAAAAAVs/vduCZ-dNae8/s320/010.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>Then, we painted on the etching cream and I mean we gooped the stuff on. This is not a time to get skimpy. This is one of those times that less is not more! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ba-PlIUi5kQ/TuEoHwALMmI/AAAAAAAAAV0/KqU_xiPCZgI/s1600/003.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ba-PlIUi5kQ/TuEoHwALMmI/AAAAAAAAAV0/KqU_xiPCZgI/s320/003.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>We patiently waiting while letting our etching cream sit for 10 minutes.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-5Hg90TMzX9c/TuEpjlDx98I/AAAAAAAAAWU/6IU2GmQvEVM/s1600/250.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-5Hg90TMzX9c/TuEpjlDx98I/AAAAAAAAAWU/6IU2GmQvEVM/s320/250.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>Then we rinsed the etching cream off.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FhAeZxsrvmg/TuEoSpLhuaI/AAAAAAAAAV8/lepIQNX7QYg/s1600/006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FhAeZxsrvmg/TuEoSpLhuaI/AAAAAAAAAV8/lepIQNX7QYg/s320/006.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>And Viola' beautiful! <a name='more'></a>My friend Brooke and I are making a few of our Christmas presents for people this year. On Saturday, we went to Hobby Lobby to get a few of the crafts needed. Today, I want to show you what she made for her sisters. Not to make it sound like she was not super awesome, but I will say that most people will be able to do this project. I am not going to reinvent the wheel, so if you would like to see how to actually do this project, please check out <a href="http://mysparkle.blogspot.com/2010/02/how-to-rolled-flowers.html" target="_blank">this</a> how to. What I do want to show you is her doing the project. I was so proud of her because before she started this project, she didn't even know how to thread a needle. Which brings me to the big difference between her flower and the flower in the how to link. We tried to use fabric glue, but they started to unravel even after holding them for a bit of time. So, she sewed under the flower after making ever wrap around. After she was done doing three flowers, she sewed them to a premade fabric headband that she purchased at hobby lobby. Which our friend Holly said we should have glued to felt and sewed it to the headband to make it look better, but I think the end product is so cute and I have decided she needs to make and sell these! What do you think?<br />

<a name='more'></a>This is the outfit I wore on Saturday. I was going over to my friend Brooke's house. Our plan was to take a "quick" trip to Hobby Lobby to pick up some things for gifts and her craftapalooza. Then we were going to watch the movie "One Day" since we read the book in our book club. Last we were going to get some crafting in. So, I wanted to look cute but still be comfy and I think this outfit was perfect for the day. So, was our trip to Hobby Lobby quick? No, not in the slightest bit. I don't think I have ever seen Hobby Lobby so busy! Was the movie good? Well, this was one of those movies that the book was definitely better. I will have to write a review for the book because I actually enjoyed the book. Did we get to do some crafting? Brooke did! I will be posting her accomplishments tomorrow after my last final of the semester! Yes, I said that correct. My last final. So, here is my outfit from Saturday. Which I am officially calling my Walmart outfit.<br />

Black shirt: Walmart, I can't remember how much it was, but I don't think it was more than $15. As you can see I just pulled it down so I felt alright about wearing the leggings.<br />
Black leggings: Walmart for around $5.98<br />
Gray top: Walmart. I bought this almost 10 years ago so I can't remember how much it was. <br />
Boot socks: Target (ok ok so the outfit is not all Walmart) $3<br />
Boots: last seen <a href="http://lovesewingandmore.blogspot.com/2011/12/its-all-coming-back-to-me-now.html">here</a> <br />
Scarf: Claire's $15<br />
Bracelets: stole from my mom (I'll have to tell you the story later)<br />
Ring: Goody's years ago and I can't remember how much it was either!Mistyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12258587578927847013noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7715985014415375123.post-24302107447157397002011-12-02T18:21:00.000-08:002012-01-19T14:36:45.462-08:00It's All Coming Back to Me Now<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-SLGSlYeSjS4/TuAZ-_SBnNI/AAAAAAAAATg/1vkYrOQSMfA/s1600/024.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-SLGSlYeSjS4/TuAZ-_SBnNI/AAAAAAAAATg/1vkYrOQSMfA/s320/024.JPG" width="291" /></a></div><br />

<a name='more'></a>The song, It's All Coming Back to Me Now by Meat Loaf or Celine Dion to me is about obsession. And I am obsessed with this tank top. I wish I had one in every possible color and could wear it every day. I love the ruffles and the little fabric flowers. The best thing....I found it on sale for almost nothing! And if that was not enough, I think it makes me look skinnier than I really am! It's a magic tank! So, now that I have gushed about it enough, drum roll please.......<br />

It was hard to come up with something to put on our shirts. But, after much thought, we decided since we always joke around about Edward being our man (I'm not sure if you all knew about this but yes, yes it is true). So, that was what we were going to go with. So....here are the shirts after some cut, pasting and ironing with the <a href="http://lovesewingandmore.blogspot.com/p/my-amazon-store.html" target="_blank">iron ons</a> we purchased fro the Harry Potter shirt. They came out pretty good and a little funny. My picture I chose to put in the shirt makes me laugh because it looks like I am looking back at the camera all cocky like. What do you think?<br />

It has been, once again, going between rain and snow all day and it is super windy. So, today I decided I needed to wear a flowery shirt to make me feel like it is summery. <br />

I went back to school after not being in school for about 13 years. Next week is my last week of the semester, and I have to say it went by really quick. I'd like to the only thing on my mind has been school, but after working in retail for the past 10 years, I have only been able to wear khaki pants and button up shirts or polos. So, I have had a fun time trying to make my wardrobe into something more my style. So, I figured on the days that I don't have much time to craft or post a long tutorial....I would show you what I've worn. So, today is my first one and please be kind. Also, our weather went from rain to snow back to rain all day and I will not lie my hair does not look the cutest but...I still love this outfit. <a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_eLbXQ9OUTc/TtQwUuEq4XI/AAAAAAAAAO4/TVrd8KmPEI0/s1600/017.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_eLbXQ9OUTc/TtQwUuEq4XI/AAAAAAAAAO4/TVrd8KmPEI0/s320/017.JPG" width="156" /></a></div><br />
