Forever Plaid

I have been so busy the last 4-5 months.  I went back to school after not being in school for about 13 years.  Next week is my last week of the semester, and I have to say it went by really quick.  I'd like to the only thing on my mind has been school, but after working in retail for the past 10 years, I have only been able to wear khaki pants and button up shirts or polos.  So, I have had a fun time trying to make my wardrobe into something more my style.  So, I figured on the days that I don't have much time to craft or post a long tutorial....I would show you what I've worn.  So, today is my first one and please be kind.  Also, our weather went from rain to snow back to rain all day and I will not lie my hair does not look the cutest but...I still love this outfit.

  • Shirt is from Maurices two years old.
  • The sweater is from Victoria Secret that I got for Christmas 4 years ago, but I think they still sell it.  It's a boyfriend sweater.
  • The jeans are actually from the Goodwill.  I bought them at this beginning of the school year for $2.50
  • The boot socks are from Target.  I got them on sell for $2
  • The boots I found on EBay for $29 or something like that
  • The scarf is from Claire's for I think $15.
  • Ring is from Walmart...I think?
I love the combination of colors in this outfit and it is perfect for a cold day like the one we had today.  The great thing was that I had the majority of the items in my closet for many years and never thought to put them together.  I love finding new outfits out of old clothes.

Priorities Priorities

Do you ever feel like you have your priorities in the wrong place?  I have been having that feeling for the last couple of weeks.  I will be going back to college in nine days!  College after being out of school for fourteen years.  I am definitely nervous to go back to college.  I remember the first time I went.  I only was able to go for two years before I stopped going. When I was in college, I was taking a full time load of classes and working two jobs and cheering.  Looking back, I don't know how I was able to do it for as long as I did!
So, with me being 33 years old and going back to school, I have so much I my mind.  But oddly enough, I have one thing on my mind the most....what am I going to wear and what kind of bag am I going to carry.  Yes, like I said, I have my priorities in the wrong place.  I am worried that I will look too old.  I don't want to dress to old, but I don't want to dress like I am trying to look young.
I finally decided on a few bags that I wanted but I could not decide for sure which one I was going to buy.  So, I bought them both!  Why not?  Here are pictures of what I purchased.  What do you think?

looks small, but it really is a great size

My Deathly Hallows excursion

I was really wanting to do this yesterday but I practically slept the whole day away.  After being woke up Thursday morning a little after 4am by my poor dog throwing up.  I could not get back to sleep. Which normally this would not be that big of a deal, but as many of you know, Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 2 came out at midnight.  My friend Brooke and I have been waiting for this day for months and months.  We even made our own shirts which I posted here.  We went to the 9pm showing of Part 1.  Which we had already seen.  And the idea of going to this was both good and bad.  The bad was I didn't really get to see many people dressed up in their Harry Potter costumes like I normally do.  We got to the theater at 8pm and there were not lines yet, so we were able to go right in and sit down.  The good, is that everyone in the theater we were sent to also were staying for the 3D version of Part 2.  So, if we did not go to the first movie, we would have had awful seats!  I'm not really going to tell any of you about the movie.  I just really want to show the pictures I have of Brooke and I in our shirts and in the theater.

I had to get pictures of me and Hermione since it is the same picture on my shirt

Hunger Games

I am currently part of two book clubs.  Which sounds like a lot of reading, but really in both book clubs we only read one book a month.  For one of my book clubs, we decided to read the first book of the Hunger Games trilogy.  I started the book on Monday afternoon and finished it Monday evening.  I then purchased the second book, Catching Fire, on Tuesday and started to only begin to read it on Tuesday.  By Wednesday evening, I had finished the second book and the third book, Mockingjay.  So, let me give you some information about them...well, as much as I can without spoiling it for you.  So, the first one is set sometime in the future.  There was no longer a United States.  North America was sectioned off into a Capitol and 12 districts.  It once had 13 districts, but the districts tried to take down the capitol and when they did the 13th district was destroyed.  Since then, every year, each district has to draw a boys name and a female name withing the ages of 12-18 to go into a game to kill each other.  The last person living wins.  There is a lot of gut wrenching and sadness and the beginning of a love story.
The second book, Catching Fire, has less action...but still the same type.  But, there is the start of a love triangle.  This book was my favorite.  In the first book the main character was a 16 year old girl that was so strong in everything she did.  She controlled every emotion she had.  In this book, she starts to let her guard down and show emotion and love in her own way.
The third book, Mockingjay, is probably one of the saddest books I have read.  This book has gotten to me.  I have thought about it for days and can't seem to think about anything else.  The characters are at war.  They are trying to rally all the districts to take down the capitol.  There is a lot of sorrow and heart ache in this book. Every time it seemed like the main character was going to catch a break....something else went wrong.  Plus, it only has a slight happy ending.  I'll admit...I cried like a baby reading this final book.  Actually, I sobbed.  I had to stop reading to compose myself, sobbed.  Even now writing this, I get teary eyed just thinking about the end of the book.  The author seems to try to tie up all the loose ends within the last few pages of the book.  But, the best part of the book is the very last page and the epilogue.
